Renault KWID Concept unveiled at New Delhi Auto Expo 2014 [VODEO]

French car maker Renault made the global launch of its concept car KWID besides introducing new variants of models Fluence and Duster.
"This is the first time we have chosen to reveal a concept car outside Europe and this is eloquent sign of our commitment to India," Gilles Normand, Senior Vice President and Chairman Asia Pacific Region Renault said at the 12th Auto Expo

We’re at the Renault pavilion at the 2014 Auto Expo! The list of cars on display at hall 5 of the Expo mart include the Renault Duster,face-lifted Koleos{ priced around Rs 26. 20 lakh), the electric Zoe hatchback  (One of 4 electric cars soon to arrive) and the Megane.
Celebrating over 1 lakh Renaults on Indian roads in a span of just over a year, the French car-maker has revealed the KWID concept car. Renault has also unveiled the Duster adventure edition which will be launched shortly, however the Duster face-lift will have to wait for now.
The Duster is the no 1 SUV in India today and among the top 15 selling cars in the country overall. Citing this success Renault has unveiled the KWID concept car.
The KWID has made its world premier and was designed with inputs from Renault Design India and is covered by the Explore petal of Renault’s life cycle based strategy. The vehicle’s exciting proportions and dimensions as well as very short overhangs give the impression of a bouncing vehicle. while its over-sized wheels protrude past the fenders and make the KWID look a lot like a dune buggy.
The car is a compact SUV design and falls under the 4 metre mark. A production version of this concept car may just look like a smaller edition of the Toyota FJ Cruiser. The interior of the KWID is designed to serve as a snug cocoon and is inspired by a bird’s nest rather evidently. The vehicle’s seats suspended over a solid base in white give an impression of lightness. Renault’s plans for the 6th largest car market in the world are ambitious and the showcasing of another SUV concept means it is likely that they will draw upon the success of the Duster. The cars are currently manufactured in Orangadam Chennai and have a capacity of 480,000 units per annum.
Along with the cars Renault also announced the arrival of Renault India’s new CEO Sumit Sawhney who along with Gilles Normand, Senior VP, chairman Renault Asia-Pacific unveiled the KWID Concept. Renault also showcased the electric car Zoe, which is capable of hitting a top whack of 135 km/h and features ESP, ASR, CSV in its safety portfolio. Peak power is at 88 hp and peak torque is at 220 Nm. The car has not been launched yet, but can pave the way for future cars.
